Today we are going to review one of the rising stars of local crémant wines – Cuvée de Purcari Extra Brut Alb by Purcari. This wine is made the same way as the world’s most famous sparkling wines of the Champagne region, using the authentic ‘méthode traditionnelle‘ style, with bottle remuage using all three grape varieties that are allowed in the Champagne region: chardonnay, pinot blanc and pinot noir. The wine underwent a long term bottle fermentation, a process that delivers creaminess and roundness due to the ‘sur lie’ wine contact and an elegant ‘perlage’, which are the two most essential characteristics of a sparkling wine. But enough theory, let’s get straight to the tasting!

The wine we are going to review tonight is a bit special – Rosu Imparat 2015 by Minis Terrios. This is the winemaker’s first wine blend, made of two indigenous grape varieties – feteasca neagra and rara neagra, enchanted with a bit of cabernet sauvignon in order to get more structure and complexity. All three varieties were vinified and aged in oak barrels individually, with different ageing times: cabernet sauvignon was aged for 20 months, part of the feteasca neagra (50%) – for 12 months, while rara neagra – for 8 months. But enough theory, without further ado, let’s get straight to the tasting!

De astăzi este disponibilă o noutate extraordinară pentru amatorii de vinuri bune — un Cabernet Sauvignon 2014, îmbuteliat într-o ediție limitată de 989 de sticle. Eticheta este fascinant de minimalistă, doar numărul de serie al fiecărei sticle — o a doua butelie cu aceeași etichetă nu veți găsi.

Cuvée de Purcari Alb Brut a obținut medalia de aur, fiind inclus în top 10 cele mai bune spumante, în cadrul celui mai important concurs de spumante din lume — Effervescents du Monde 2018. Competiția s-a desfășurat în perioada 14– 16 noiembrie 2018, în Dijon (Bourgogne, Franța). Aceasta este cea mai înaltă distincție pe care o obține un vin moldovenesc în concurs. La ediția din 2018, au fost înscrise 600 de vinuri din peste 20 de țări, fiind jurizate de un panel internațional din 100 de experți din lumea vinului.
